Note:
New Wake Old Floorboards was written in late 2012 for the Ludovico Ensemble. After a short introduction, there are three types of canons, first a crab canon between the winds, next two simultaneous canons with variable durations, and finally a

mensuration canon. The piece ends with quiet chorale-like figures, whose harmonies  were harvested from the canons previously heard. The piece was written with out any external concept besides the idea to explore the ease at which these instruments can play different types of long lyrical phrases or short punctuations, all with a tremendous natural timbral range.
